The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, following the outcome of the keenly contested election.

Oyebamiji, who met with the President on Friday, August 21, 2026, said the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the recent election and the need for peace, unity and stability in Osun State.

According to him, President Tinubu emphasised the importance of approaching elections with a peaceful mindset, noting that governance is ultimately about the people and that political differences should not be allowed to threaten peace and security.

The APC candidate said the President’s message was particularly important in the aftermath of the election, stressing that participation in a democratic contest should not be viewed solely through the prism of victory or defeat. He said the democratic process must remain focused on the interests of the people and the peaceful development of the state.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Oyebamiji disclosed that the APC was still examining the results and other relevant records from the election. He said the party would communicate its position to the public after completing its review, urging his supporters and party members to remain calm and peaceful in the meantime.

Oyebamiji also appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to call his supporters to order and ensure that political disagreements arising from the election do not degenerate into violence or confrontation. He urged all political actors and residents of Osun State to put the interest of the state above partisan considerations and work towards restoring lasting peace.

The appeal came amid reports of fresh tensions and alleged attacks involving political supporters in parts of the state after the election. Oyebamiji’s call therefore adds to growing appeals for restraint and peaceful coexistence as Osun moves beyond the electoral contest.
Adeleke was declared winner of the August 15 governorship election, polling 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji’s 444,815 votes, according to reports on the official election outcome.
